Portrait of the real Philippe II,
Duke of Orléans, Regent of France
from 1715-1723.
Philippe d'Orléans: Nowhere are misery, desperation, and crime more welcome than here.  You, my most loyal subjects, as Louis XIV, my uncle, left you to me, I shall leave you, more numerous still, to Louis XV and his successor.  For misery, desperation, and crime are fecund.  Enter.  And let joy reign supreme!

A very blah movie about Philippe II, Duke d'Orléans, regent for King Louis XV from 1715-1723 while Louis was still a child.

It was tedious to sit through, didn't tell much of a story or seem to have a point, and I'm still not exactly sure what it was all about.

It begins with the death of Phillipe's eldest daughter, which saddens him.  It then shows him partying and participating in a bunch of orgies.  At the same time, a guy named Pontcallec is trying to rouse a revolt in Breton, which is a complete fiasco and never takes off.

I would highly recommend never ever seeing this movie.
